Ochrolechia parella – Thick, grey, crustose thallus forming large patches up to 20cm.across, often with concentric growth rings towards the margins. Abundantly fertile with large (2-3mm.diam) grey cups with thick grey margins. Disc may be flesh coloured and is always covered in powdery white granules (pruina) like castor sugar. Very common on smooth hard siliceous rocks in the supralittoral. Thallus stains pink on Old Red Sandstone.
